Baltimore, Maryland – Brian M. Davis, Managing Director and CEO of Clearview Group, LLC has announced the addition of Mike Ginski as a Principal in the Firm’s State and Local Tax practice, where he will help lead the Firm’s State and Local Tax practice.
“It’s great to be working with Mike again after a few years apart,” said Brian Davis, Managing Director and CEO of Clearview Group. “Mike is just one of those people that inspires people around him to be great. He clearly checks the box as an expert in State and Local Tax, but since first working with him in 2001, he has proven to genuinely care about the people he works with – which is supremely important to us as we continue to grow. We want the top talent to choose our Firm for all the right reasons, and we are growing organically by continuing to focus on the things that matter the most – our clients and our people.”
Mr. Ginski is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with significant accounting, consulting, and internal controls experience. He is also a subject matter expert in Multi-State Sales and Use Tax Consulting. Mr. Ginski has strong problem-solving skills, demonstrates superior research and analysis techniques, and is an effective communicator. He has been a sought-after speaker on audit defense techniques and other topics at national conferences such as IPT.
From 2001 – 2004 and again from 2006 – 2015, Mike was a Director of State & Local Tax and a Senior Recovery Audit Accountant with Altus Group U.S., Inc. (formerly SC&H Group) in Sparks, MD. As a Director, Mike specialized in Sales & Use Tax consulting including, but not limited to, audit defense, recovery projects, tax research, voluntary disclosures and nexus surveys for clients across the United States and Canada. He saved clients millions of dollars in potential tax liabilities through successful tax litigation with various state and local jurisdictions, and acted as the statistical sampling and data management expert for his department. As a Senior Recovery Audit Accountant, Mike oversaw large recovery audit engagements, and created the recovery audit service line manual, which established policies and procedures for the group.
Prior to his work with Altus/SC&H, Mike was a Manager with Gary R. Bozel & Associates in Towson, and was a Senior Accountant with Wooden & Benson, CPAs in Towson. While at those firms, Mike performed audit, review, compilation and tax services for clients, and was actively involved in firm recruiting and hiring efforts. He has a long history of mentoring junior accounting professionals.
Mike received a BA in Computer Accounting from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University). He is a member of the AICPA, the MACPA, and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT).
“I am very excited to join such a dynamic group of people – many of whom I have either worked for, with, or serviced as clients during my 19 years in public accounting,” said Ginski. “I am also extremely excited to join an already established State and Local Tax Practice here at Clearview Group. Together with the leadership at this Firm and the support of our team members, I am confident we will continue to build a State and Local Tax Practice that is second to none.”
